    In your video "Should we keep Mula Bandha all the time" you mention, that creating a pattern (like using MB or Ujjayi) can get you in trouble. When would you say is the time to let go of ujjayi during the asana practice? Any other time then in savasana, too?

    The whole point about flexibility is patience, use your breath, understanding the body mechanism, warm up and slowly doing to be mobility functional. Never force to get the end results. Flexibility together with strength gives us the functional mobility with our daily activities, and hopefully help with our posture, minimize muscle in balance, prevent fall or etc.

    Can you comment on lack of flexibility and body pain.As we get older pain management becomes very challenging. Flexibility … done correctly… is a valuable form of pain relief.

    Sensible. Yoga has become more competitive, showy and over focused on extreme postures and risking injurises and deterring new comers. What is the purpose of flexibility or extreme flexibility? Vs the real objective of yoga which is mental training? Yoga is now often practised in a way that is contrary to the principle moderation of yoga as mentioned in the bhagavad gita.

    For safe yoga practice you must have active mobility: Strength to get into as well as out of a pose with correct form, flexibility shouldn't be about using gravity to load your system into a pose. Most yoga injuries I see are from hypermobility where practitioners are forcing range of motion, using the wrong joints to push deeper into a pose or even mobilising the same vertebrae repeatedly to the detriment of the mobility of the entire spine. As with all aspects of biomechanics there are laws and one of the most crucial laws for flexibility is: Never try to stretch a loaded or active muscle for flexibility . I.E. If it is working or contracting then it is not in the best state for lengthening. For the best flexibility knowledge have a look at AIS, Stretching USA.     Whats the definition of flexibility???? i didnt really get an answer, i felt you kind of discussed around the initial question. Flexibility is the range of movement at a joint or a group of joints! simple… how much do we need?? the limits are what we do everyday or in specific sport. its not just to prevent injury its to have more efficient muscles decreasing intramuscular resistance. range of movement is determined by the elasticity of a muscle tissue and it being able to return to its original state.
