In my experience, it's best to first carefully select the girl from the original picture, move her up to a second layer, manipulate the layer that's just her, then move it back down to the original layer. If needed, clone stamp out any part of her showing from the bottom layer, or better yet, when you originally take the photo, use a tripod and capture one pic with the girl, and one without.
